Peace and Freedom Party Endorses Aidan Hill for Berkeley City Council District 7
I am honored to announce that the Peace and Freedom Party has endorsed my campaign for Berkeley City Council District 7.
I am grateful for their support and for the opportunity to build a broader coalition around the future of Southside Berkeley.
This campaign began with a simple belief: the people who live in a neighborhood should have a meaningful voice in shaping what comes next. Southside is home to students, workers, renters, small businesses, unhoused neighbors, longtime residents, and community organizations that have invested years of care into this part of Berkeley. As District 7 continues to change, those voices deserve representation that is rooted in the neighborhood itself.
My campaign is focused on three core priorities: keeping Southside affordable and livable, protecting public land and public life, and making growth pay for stability.
That means preventing displacement before it starts. It means protecting existing affordable housing, strengthening tenant protections, and pursuing housing policies that serve the people who live here now, not just future market demand. It means treating housing as part of a larger neighborhood system that includes infrastructure, public space, accessibility, and community life.
Likewise, it also means protecting public land and community-serving spaces. Public space is civic infrastructure. Sidewalks, seating, lighting, shade, restrooms, gathering places, and neighborhood amenities all shape daily life in Southside. Residents deserve a city government that treats these investments as essential rather than optional.
Finally, it means making sure growth contributes to neighborhood stability rather than placing additional burdens on existing residents. Southside deserves infrastructure that keeps pace with density, cleaner streets, better maintenance, safer pedestrian conditions, support for local businesses, and transparent public reporting on outcomes.
Throughout this campaign, I have tried to focus on practical governance, measurable goals, and accountability. Every proposal should have an owner, a funding source, a timeline, and a way for the public to evaluate whether it worked.
I am grateful to the Peace and Freedom Party for recognizing that vision and for joining the growing coalition supporting this campaign.
I also want to thank the volunteers, supporters, students, workers, renters, neighborhood advocates, and community leaders who have helped build this effort. Every conversation, endorsement, and act of support strengthens our ability to bring Southside voices into City Hall.
There is still a great deal of work ahead, but I am encouraged by the momentum we are building together.
Thank you to the Peace and Freedom Party for your endorsement and your confidence in this campaign.
In solidarity,
Aidan Hill (they/them)
Candidate for Berkeley City Council District 7
